For optimal oral health, dental care is required. Toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and mouthwash are essential tools for everyday use. For more information on how to use them, see the instructions given by our dentist.

The choice of toothbrush and toothpaste

Tooth brushing cannot be done without a toothbrush and toothpaste. You should know that the choice between a manual and an electric toothbrush doesn’t matter much. That being said, you should look for the details of the head and bristles on the toothbrush. Note that a toothbrush with a compact and rounded head allows easier access to all surfaces of the teeth. To protect tooth enamel and gums, the bristles should be soft. As for the choice of a toothpaste, it can depend on your oral health. You can opt for a toothpaste with properties that fight against plaque, that strengthen enamel or are better for sensitive teeth.

Brushing technique

After applying a toothpaste layer about 1 centimeter thick on your toothbrush, position it at a 45 degrees angle at the base of the teeth. The bristles have to cover the junction of the teeth and gums. Then clean all surfaces of your teeth by making circular movements from top to bottom and without applying too much pressure. Do not forget to clean the tongue! After brushing during 2 to 3 minutes, proceed to rinse. To maintain good dental hygiene and thus combat the proliferation of bacteria, it goes without saying that brushing should be done in the morning and evening. However, it is also advisable to carry out this operation after each meal.

Flossing and mouthwash

The toothbrush alone does not eliminate all of the bacteria that’s why it’s important to complete the routine with dental floss. More precisely, it’s about removing plaque with the floss in between the teeth. Finally, it is recommended to complete this cleaning operation using an antibacterial mouthwash.

Remember that although there are many existing tools to help you maintain good dental hygiene at home, it is recommended to visit regularly a dental hygienist and a dentist to make sure you have a healthy mouth.
